| At Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin we believe that every woman has the right to make her own decision about her pregnancy. Whatever your decision, we respect it. If you decide to continue your pregnancy, we can offer individualized education and referral to a health care provider. If you choose to terminate your pregnancy, we can provide safe and legal abortion services at three of our Planned Parenthood locations--Appleton, Milwaukee and Madison East. |

| | PPWI now offers Medical Abortion services. No surgical procedure or anesthesia is required. It is a drug--"Mifeprex"--that is given to patients who have decided to end early pregnancies (up to seven weeks). The drug is given in pill form and causes a medical abortion, an event similar to a miscarriage. Mifeprex blocks the hormone needed to sustain a pregnancy. Without this hormone, the uterine lining breaks down, the cervix softens and bleeding begins. A few days later another medication is given--"Misoprostol". This medication causes the uterus to empty, ending the pregnancy.
Surgical Abortion services are also offered at PPWI. For more information please contact one of our health centers or call 1-800-230-PLAN |
